When I was a kid, watching TV programs meant watching what was on at a particular time and you had to know when your favorite shows were on and be ready to watch at that time, or have it recorded to tape (those antique things), or you’d miss out on that day or week. I remember some channels had bad reception in our area too.

I lived through the fall of the corner video stores (RIP Blockbuster and Hollywood Video), so the slow(!) change to the on-demand delivery of content was not unforeseeable. These days, I rarely turn on a TV to watch a broadcast channel. Usually, I’m just using the display to watch something on Netflix or Crunchyroll, or even streamed off my phone.

I can totally see a day when the cable that brings broadcast shows into the home will only be used instead for internet access and to watch live event streams as needed.

News programs still seem to dominate broadcast channels, or that’s at least what is on during prime times when I see my parents watching. It’s either that or shows about hoarders or house hunters I see most often, with the occasional movie.

As for the news, there’s just so many more options online and it’s super easy to focus on specific topics from multiple sources. TV just doesn’t offer such flexibility, and that’s why it’s super worrisome that there’s still a large number of people that only get news information primarily from TV, and from the big networks. Sure, some of them are doing a good job, but, there’s often these days stories that break online, with all the big networks scrambling to catch up or even just copy-pasting social media posts.

It’s a different world these days and it’s getting more online-centered. I wonder if anybody reading this is out of range for some of this, like in a rural area or something. I wonder what people in those areas think of all this. Do they even notice?

Game with the best cut scenes

World of Warcraft. Blizzard’s cinematics team is right up there, quality-wise, with the folks at ILM.

Favorite antagonist

Ganon, the infamous enemy of Hyrule.

Favorite protagonist

Surprise!

By Modified from [1]. Samus Aran and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption copyright Nintendo., Fair use, Link
It’s not Link. It’s actually Samus Aran, the bounty hunter of the Metroid series.

Picture of a game setting you wish you lived in

Hanamura, Japan. From the game Overwatch.

Favorite genre

Right now, I’d have to go with MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Role-Playing Game). I’ve got multiple subs to some decently well-known ones and rotate as games are retired.

Game with the best story

This changes over time, but currently, it’s Ori And The Blind Forrest.

A game sequel which disappointed you

I’d say Gears of War 3 comes closest to disappointing because, while it had a pretty decent story, it needed a bit more length to let it breathe.

Game you think had the best graphics or art style

Doubleshot Bandit – Borderlands 2

The Borderlands series. That shading style was not new when the first Borderlands game was released, but it’s really a stylistic mark of all the Borderlands games, even the game from Telltale Games.

That’s all for now. The fourth, and final part of this series is soon to come. Stay tuned!

I certainly wouldn’t be the first, nor the best to write this post, but I think I’ve got a solid basis to, so I’ll tackle it. Keep in mind I’m not saying there’s a set order you should explore anime, or that some are more difficult to follow than others, just trying to make the ride, initially, as free from jarring changes as possible.

393Px-Bingo

One thing I’ll be doing at Blizzcon…playing BINGO. No! Really…

Whatever happens, make sure you print out your bingo card before you go, and then throughout the weekend, cross off everything that you see on there. If, by the end of the weekend, you’ve nabbed five across, you win!

I’m printing my Bingo card right now…

KurkenlinePTR adventures…or, I should have just gone to Shadowmoon Valley…

A sign of things to come? This line took 2 hours and was to tame The Kurken, one of the exotic beasts that hunters will be able to tame in the upcoming patch. The long wait was due to a certain orc hunter who would kill The Kurken occasionally while another hunter was taming it. That probably won’t happen on PvP servers (it’s an alliance starting area), but I can see this happening on PvE servers. I believe that type of harassment is reportable on live servers, so it might not happen too often…

At any rate, two hours later, the job was done:

The Saturday Special:

~My Favorite DVD Movie Is~

  1. In Drama? Stand By Me. The believability of the characters is what I remember (I was around the same age as the characters at the time.)
  2. In Comedy? Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. I saw this at a pre-release screening. I wore out that VHS tape from playing it so much. Allllllllrighty then!
  3. In Mystery/Suspense? Seven. I’m almost afraid to mention it.
  4. In Action/Adventure? The Matrix. It’s going to take a lot to topple this movie off the top of my must-have DVDs list.

Warcraft music available on iTunes – WOW Insider

Most of the albums available were included in past Collector’s Editions of Blizzard games, such as the original soundtracks of World of Warcraft and The Burning Crusade, and even the Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos soundtrack.

Here’s a link to the iTunes Store page. This is pretty neat, I think. I was not looking forward to extracting the music from the game files and filing in the information manually for each track. Also, this little morsel is there:

D3-Free-Track

Looks like I’m late to the party. The other tracks seem to have been there for a while. They’re all iTunes Plus tracks.
