If we were having coffee…

I’d realize that my weekly recap post should maybe be made on Saturdays. I’m still thinking about that. I just would need to find something else I could do every Friday, consistently.

I’d also let you know that I’m finally getting around to seeing Moana this afternoon. I’ve heard, from so many friends, that it’s splendid. I’m sure they’re all as young at heart as I am, so we’ll see.

I’ve started multiple relatively intense challenges, such as one for coding, and one to post every single day in 2017. Today marks 7 days in so far and is part of a bit of a longer streak I began in December. The latter I’m hoping will snowball into a permanent habit. So far, the streak is unbroken for a couple weeks. Whether these posts will be worthy of reading is another matter entirely, but I’ll work on that as well.

To that end as well, I do intend to try not to put out super short posts, except on Mondays. I’ve reserved that day specifically for “microblogging”. It’s pretty tough to spew out the recommended 500 words sometimes, though, so I know I’ll slip up from time to time.

I’m learning what it’s like, what it’s really like to be in a serious relationship. I mean that I’d heard stories and even consumed some romantic content, in various forms over the years, but I used to think, cynically, that a lot of the “mushy stuff” was artificial, and a bit contrived. Over the years, and especially recently, I’m seeing that some traits that are not, and all it takes to fall into the habits that couples get into is to find somebody you really “click” with.

As an example, sometimes, I’ll have a crazy thought slip into my mind, and, just before I’m able to vocalize it, my significant other will ask about it. I’m trying not to over think this, however, and just going with it seems fine, if not a bit scary sometimes. I just thought I’d share some of that thought process here as well.

It’s another gray, somewhat rainy morning, but I’m still looking forward to going out today. I’ll be very careful to take care of the tickle in my throat. I also plan to stay well hydrated since it generally also helps with my well-being in general. I’ve got a large umbrella handy and also a very solid coat. It’s going to be a very fun day, and evening, full of snuggles and some warm beverages. I do hope that, for whoever is reading this, that your weekend is also a cozy one (for northern hemisphere folks) or, at least bearable, while in the company of loved ones.

Before I forget, Happy New Year!

It’s the first day of another year, and it’s off to a great start already, at least in my limited sphere. Today is a Sunday and that’s awesome, which means no work for me, so I spent it living life to the fullest. Wrapped it up with a viewing of the movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them. After the New Year’s Eve wedding and party, I’m still amazed at how my second and third winds helped sustain me.

Just as I finish typing the above, the drowsiness slams in all at once. I need the sleep. Good night and Happy New Year!

The $15 “Survival” expansion to 2016’s second most-intense emotional rollercoaster, The Division, seems to be a very good addition to the game. Emphasis on “seems to be,” because I can only extend so much praise to a clever but brutal game mode that keeps killing me. Read more…

I’ve seen some play-through video of this expansion, and this review definitely makes me lean more towards getting this particular content. Sure, it’s brutal, but it’s not unreasonably so. It also doesn’t appear to be as complex and “without any hints” as survival Minecraft is.

For a change, and because I just received a culinary box from Quarterly, I’ll be trying this stuff that looks like oatmeal, called It was in the latest box, along with a Minnesota mug and pancake mix. Since it’s a bit chilly this morning, I’ll prepare it hot. Protein and fiber, I definitely could use both. 🙂

Had a weird dream, which is quickly fading. In it, I was hiding, for a reason I don’t know, from some group of people, who I think were a rock band that was using my own home for a rehearsal space, and were taking a break. I did eventually speak with one of them, but it was just before I woke up, so I can’t even remember what we said.

Also, I think I get the appeal of the ugly sweater tradition, although I don’t yet have one epic enough. I do, however, have a sweatshirt that wishes it was a sweater. Close enough, right?

Do you like weekends? Had any strange dreams lately? I’d like to know.

Well, today’s a day long awaited. The concert. Foo Fighters, at The Honda Center(aka The Pond). I’ve been looking forward to this since last December, when I ordered my ticket.

I’ve actually wanted to see these guys perform live for many years now. They’ve been at it for a couple decades and I find that I like songs from nearly all their albums.

Even though I couldn’t afford to buy their albums or go to concerts when I was a bit younger, I’m glad to be able to now. I’m hopeful that this will be an awesome rock concert.

Dear Anime,

Thanks for being such a fun form of entertainment, anime. It’s because of you that I can’t sometimes find some pretty unusual stories and even situations that would be highly unlikely to occur in real life. Even when you get a bit heavy on the fan-service, you still manage to have some grain of pretty unique situations. I also like your associated art forms, such as Manga and the cosplay that inevitably arises. Continue reading
